The system offers security and privacy to users who want to store their files on the internet. He left the Institute of Mathematical and Computing Sciences (ICMC) at USP, in São Carlos, to undertake business in England. Since December, Rafael Libardi has been committed to developing his startup, UkkoBox, whose headquarters are located in a European business incubator and accelerator specializing in cybersecurity, located in London, England. By spreading information around the world, the system developed by the researcher offers security and privacy to users who wish to store their files on the internet. The idea of developing the tool arose during the former student's master's degree at ICMC, when he was guided by professor Julio Cesar Estrella, from the Laboratory of Distributed Systems and Concurrent Programming (LaSDPC). Throughout his research, supported by the São Paulo Research Foundation (Fapesp), Libardi studied internet security issues and saw that the area had potential and could generate a new business.
This is what led to UkkoBox, a startup that Libardi created together with two partners: Paul Ngum, who takes care of the business side of the company, and Edgard Regolão, advertiser and designer. The startup also has two programmers. According to Libardi, UkkoBox's main objective is to ensure security and privacy for users who wish to store their files on the internet. The former student, who gradu Whatsapp Number List ated in Information Systems at ICMC, says that the company differs from most internet data protection services available on the market, which only encrypt documents, transforming them into codes: “We we divide the files into parts and send them to different providers. They can even stay in different countries.” Libardi says that the advantage of using this dispersion process is that, if a hacker manages to access one of these pieces of files, there will be no risk of obtaining the information contained there. Promotion of entrepreneurship “Certainly, the training I obtained at ICMC contributed to the development of my company, not only due to the technical knowledge I acquired, but also through the initiatives to promote entrepreneurship within the university, such as the USP Entrepreneurship Club”, he reveals.
The former student. Another opportunity that arose for Libardi while studying at the Institute was the possibility of participating in the first startup acceleration program held within USP, Disrupt: Transforming science into technological business, which took place in June last year. Of the projects registered in the program, only were chosen and among them was UkkoBox. When participating in the Program, the company received instructions from the Startup Farm accelerator: “They offered us space, business classes, customer relationship techniques, as well as mentoring with large investors and multinational entrepreneurs”. Libardi also says that it was very important to have received this guidance, as in addition to making many contacts, he was able to understand how his research could be applied to the market. In September , UkkoBox was one of six finalists in the Visa Innovation Exchange competition, which took place in Tel-Aviv (Israel). During the event, Libardi was invited by Howard Elsey, manager of Visa Europe Collab, to host a new acceleration for his company, this time at Cyber London.
